I don't want to go into what my childhood was like, but suffice it to say it didn't resemble what you've just described. I am blessed, though, to have a grown-up life that is filled with love and laughter. I think God sometimes reserves extra blessings for those of us who had it rough early - I think of Job - "After Job had prayed for his friends, the Lord made him prosperous again and gave him twice as much as he had before...The Lord blessed the latter part of Job's life more than the first."
