Christian drama has been my passion for many years. Using the English language to give voice to emotions that have no words is an incredible feeling.
I have been asked how I got into writing Christian drama. I would love to tell you it was a goal I set for myself — something I always had on my radar that I finally achieved. However, it wasn’t. My initial foray into Christian drama was a total accident. The church I was attending was buying drama that did not fit the actors we had available or was not on topics that were relevant to our congregation. The quality of available scripts was also disappointing. Whoever decided that Christian drama had to be either strictly Biblical or totally unrealistic was wrong. Drama can be used to enhance worship…to tell a story…to teach a lesson…to present a message that has been heard thousands of times in a new and fresh way. Christian drama can do and be so many things; but, it DOES NOT need to be boring! It’s really ok to laugh in church. God gave us our sense of humor and He really doesn’t mind if we use it.
The Garden of my Heart was one of the first dramas that I attempted. It was born out of the need for a seasonal drama that used only two people — that was the number of wireless microphones my church had at the time. This drama has been posted on Dramatix.org for the last 10 years and been used by dozens of churches. The latest church to use this drama was a Christian church in Ontario, Canada.

Wow, I just read this blog for the first time! In fact, truth be known, I just found out what blogs were as I came out of my hermit hyde…..so I haven’t read many blogs a’tall!
Looking for Chirstian Drama is a passion and a priority for my search. I found you amongst others. I am not looking so much for material (my goodness, I have had no lack of ideas! It is like the LORD won’t turn the movie theater off in my head whihc I am thankful for) but I am looking for people that are creating drama and what drives them, what they have learned in doing it, et al.
Anyway, I also share your passion of Christian Drama, and have been doing it for two and half years in seasonal productions. But novice am I.
I am encouraged to find kindred spirits among us and will continue to read if you don;t mind me scowering your site, that is; so thanks for helping to open my eyes that I am not alone….
Anyway, I started my own “blog” but after reading it I write like a professor who thinks he knows it all (O LORD, please help me!). But the blog is on the things that are passoinate to me, things I have learned and things I have yet to learn.
I am trying to journal what I am learning (which is why it sounds stuffy) because things are coming at me fast. I don’t want to to forget them, so I am blogging them. Maybe it will help me organize….
This was a very intriguing statement for me to read “Using the English language to give voice to emotions that have no words is an incredible feeling”
So anyway, I will be reading onward as a good Chrisitian Drama Soldier!
